almost 3 months...

Potosi, Sucre, Uynui,>Bolivia /San Pedro, chile

Where do i begin in a smoky bar with the locals laughing really loud along with Andean music on the tvs in the background.  Well i could start in Sucre….the judicial capital of Bolivia. (La Paz is the government capital) Potosi…where i was about 5 days ago and Sucre are both related.  There wouldn´t be one without the other.  Potosi (highest city in the world) used to be super rich in the 1600s producing over 50 percent of the worlds silver.  All the rich who didn´t want to live in Potosi moved  3 hours northeast to start Sucre where living was easier at a lower altitude.

Sucre is a beautiful colonial town in the hills and where the first university was as well.  So with two beautiful parks, ok resturants and an unsuccessful search for 7 cascades in the foothills Sucre was a hit.  I have amazing pic´s from a storm that came through the first night there.   You´ll see them later when i can get wireless!

The last section of Bolivia was a salt flat tour one day, the second was all desert with lakes and the third was geysers and hot springs.  The third day was the really cool and the worst all in one day.  Before we left the hotel at 4:30am to go see the geyesers somone stole my towel….now this wasn’t just any towel…an awesome rei towel that folds up to nothing and is perfect for travel…so that was the first bummer of the morning.  The second was the loss of my ipod at the first geyser.  Needless to say i was crying and had a mini break down that i forgot about by the next day.  Whatever.  But who steals a razor and you shampoo bottles?! really.  it happens.  freaks.anyways it was awesome 3 day tour that started in Uyuni Bolivia and could drop you off on the boarder of Chile to San Pedro De Atacama desert.  I thought i was all dried out but San Pedro was nice.

San Pedro De Atacama is in the desert and is the first town you hit if you coming from the South West corner of Bolivia.  It’s real dessert.  The whole top half of Chile is desert and only desert.  The driest in the world.  I spent 3 night there and did some things aside from trying to stay out of the sun during the day. The valley de luna…valley of the moon i went to in the eve and did the full moon tour which they charge more for of course…it’s a full moon!  come on! It was really worth it and a good way to finish in the desert.  We rode bikes one of the days to a pool a couple miles out of town and turned out to be a really nice relaxing day (i think this is the watering hole that gave me my death illness)  i don’t wish this on anyone.
