the next post…
I’m still here in Huaraz, Peru. I guess i’m having a hard time leaving….I’ve been here for about 6 days and 4 of them were trekking. It’s a beautiful city in the Andes.
I’ll start from the beginning….I got here in the eve and decided to hang with this German I met at the bus stop. (you’ll see video’s of him soon) The first day we went climbing…Top rope of course…It was a blast but little flys ate both of my legs leaving me with lovely scabs. little bastards!
The next was the first day of the trek…it was pretty much transit the whole day….lots of mini buses and taxis. We hiked through the rain, snow, and cows to a turquoise colored laguna called lake 69. That day was the test for Michael (the German) He couldn’t hack it…well i guess altitude sickness is serious. He ended up leaving the next morning for town while the guide, donkeys, and I moved on. The next 3 days were great and i have the photos to prove it. We got to trek through a local town with real locals! Walking on the trail with them and the donkeys was a treat….they all stare at me of course and the kids point to their faces referencing my gringo color. It ended up working out for the best. Two chicas treking*
Now i’m back in Huaraz after bouldering today and pisco sour last night ( a traditional drink here) the adventure agency that i went through makes them for you after you finish the trek. So i’ve been hanging out with the staff and having fun.
I think i’m headed to Cusco next to do a homestay, learn spanish, hike Machu Picchu and maybe go rafting.
I’ll be posting links to photo slideshows…I’ve decided to blast you with the rough edit because it’ll take me too long to edit them down to the best. I’ll send that out in a couple months i’m guessing!
Hope everyone is well and i’m thinking of you all. Wish you all were here!!!!
The link below is from climbing today..i’ll post more from the past week later*
